Evergreen Grasses for Year-Long Colour in Your Garden
Carex ‘Everest’ is an evergreen grass with variegated, spiked, long leaves of green and yellow. The leaves are almost neon in colour. It is not known for flowering but does sprout inconspicuous, brown flowers in the summer time. It is low maintenance and will only ever require any dead leaves to be removed. It looks good in a wide range of places including courtyards, rock gardens, patios, containers beds and borders. It grows to around 30cm high but can grow up to 50cm in favourable conditions.
Planting Tip
Carex works well as a prairie garden planted with achillea or planted with azaleas or rhododendrons for a more exotic looking display. Or any perennial plant that appreciates the same conditions as Carex.
